Seamless K-style gutter system installed by Acumen Renovations in Kansas City

Galvalume

A durable, clean finish and the most popular choice for Kansas City homes. Holds up well to our weather extremes.

Copper

A premium finish that develops a natural patina over time. A long-term investment that elevates any home exterior.

One gutter type, installed right

We install K-style gutters in two sizes — 5-inch and 6-inch — in Galvalume and copper. K-style has a flat bottom and back with a decorative front that resembles crown molding, and it is the most widely installed residential profile in the country: it handles more water than a half-round gutter of the same width and holds its shape under load.

The fasteners matter as much as the gutter itself. We use hidden hangers throughout and a minimum of two straps per 10-foot downspout section — preventing the sagging and pulling you see on older homes with worn spike-and-ferrule fasteners.

Sizing your system — roof pitch factor

To measure your pitch, lay a 1-foot level on the roof, raise one end until level, and measure the gap at the other end — a 4-inch gap is a 4/12 pitch.

Roof PitchRoof Pitch Factor
12/12 or higher1.3
9/12 to 11/121.2
6/12 to 8/121.1
4/12 to 5/121.05

The sizing formula

A × B × 7.4
  • A = square footage of the roof section
  • B = roof pitch factor from the table above
  • 7.4 = maximum hourly rainfall rate for Kansas City, KS
5-inch gutterHandles up to 5,520 sq ft
6-inch gutterHandles up to 7,960 sq ft

If your number is close to the limit, always size up. An oversized gutter costs very little more upfront and prevents expensive foundation and landscaping repairs later.

Downspouts:a 2×3-inch rectangular downspout handles 600 sq ft and a 3×4-inch handles 1,200 sq ft. We size how many you need from the same formula and always err toward more drainage, not less.
